Artist Paints Rendition of Historical Landmark Only Days before an EF4 Tornado Reeks Havoc

Amanda Sanford was contracted by her alma mater to create a silhouette rendering of "The Ogletree House" which is the home of the alumni association at The University of Southern Mississippi.

Just four days later an EF4 tornado touched down reeking havoc on Hattiesburg. The tornado sought fury on The Ogletree House as well as many other iconic features of Hattiesburg.

It is no coincidence to the artist that she was contacted just days before this natural disaster and was able to capture the architectural beauty of this home before it was destroyed.

This piece has definitely increased in sentimental value. The original painting is being donated to the alumni association and will be displayed once the home is rebuilt. The University is planning to rebuild and our town will recover.
